As part of the International Conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Library named after Gogol, a field trip was organized to the Museum of Memory of Victims of Political Repression in Dolinka.

During the told, the museum staff told about political repressions in Kazakhstan during the years of totalitarianism and demonstrated rare exhibits related to this historical period.

The tour for the guests was very interesting and informative. The visual picture of that time left an impression, where rare archival materials and exhibits were presented showing the severity and horror of imprisonment of people in inhumane conditions.

On September 3, 2024, a museum lesson "Knowledge day in the Museum" was held at the Museum of Memory of the Victims of Political Repression in Dolinka v. Pupils of secondary school № 4 in the village of Dolinka took part in the event using a portable museum exhibition with the use of interactive technologies. Thus, the participants of the museum lesson plunged into the past and learned how the history of their school began.

In the 1930s and 1950s, the school of Dolinka was the very place where watchtowers, barbed wire, and the faces of guards were replaced by the friendliness and education of the Soviet intelligentsia. The prisoners were people who only yesterday stood behind the podium of a scientific department, representing the light of Soviet science and culture.

The participants of the event were interested in the photo location "Pioneer Corner" and photographs of Karlag teachers. During the participation in the game the children got acquainted with the history and traditions of the All-Union Pioneer Organisation named after Lenin.

On October 1, 2024 the Municipal State Public Enterprise “Museum of Memory of Victims of Political Repressions in Dolinka v.” was visited by representatives of the State Municipal Public Enterprise "Directorate of United Museums" of the Akimat of Astana, represented by the head - Sergey Petrovich Solodovnikov, deputy - Samat Ilyasovich Tergembaev and employees of the Museum and Memorial Complex of Victims of Political Repressions and Totalitarianism "ALZHIR". During the visit, a tour of the exposition halls of the Dolinka Museum was organised, after which the guests shared their impressions about the information, the exhibited photos and documents they received. During the conversation, an agreement was reached on joint cooperation, exchange of experience and mutual assistance in searching materials of interest to both sides.

The online project is dedicated to one of the periods in the history of the Soviet Union, which was characterized as political repression. It will be of interest to those who are interested in the totalitarian regime in particular, but also in the history of the Soviet Union in general.

The project was created in order to popularise the idea of learning the lessons of Karlag to bring up tolerant consciousness among young people in the modern world to attract school and college students to study the history of KarLag.

Every year on May 18, the International event “Night at the Museum” is held at the Museum of Memory of Victims of Political Repression in Dolinka.

On the square of the museum, visitors are greeted by a brass band, an exhibition of retro cars and household items from the times of Karlag. For those who like to take pictures there are many photo locations. In each exhibition hall, moments from the lives of Karlag’s prisoners are played out, and the most vivid, unforgettable episodes from the memories of the repressed are dramatized. Historical information is conveyed to the viewer using modern technologies.
